So last week, Lela had a fever for a few days. When Lela is sick.....life is he**. Seriously. This child, while already a world-class whiner when she is well, turns into Damian III when she is sick. Whine, sniffle, whine, cry. And that's just from me! ha So for a few nights, she slept in my bed, which meant that I didn't sleep much. The first night, she woke up whining every few hours then would fall right back to sleep. She slept through the whole night the next night. She is now feeling wonderful and is currently watching Peter Pan.
Poor Matt, however, has caught this fever. It's just a fever... no vomiting (knock wood) or anything else except a fever and sometimes a small cough. He started getting yesterday afternoon. It was really amusing, though, last night, because he had that fever delirium going on. He was running around acting silly and laughing, laughing, laughing. Yes, he is much more fun sick than Lela. However, when bedtime came, he couldn't sleep longer than 15 minutes or half an hour without waking and whining. He had a much harder time going back to sleep. I ended up with him in my bed where I slept maybe half an hour until around 2:20 a.m. At that time, knowing my lovely husband would probably be awake, I took Matt downstairs. Gave him to Bill. Then slept a lovely 4 hours until Lela woke up, demanding breakfast at 6:30.
Today has been lazy, though I'm sure I didn't need to write that. Matt alternates between being happy and playing (when his fever is higher), to wanting to be held by me constantly (when the fever is lower). Why this is, I don't know. He's currently laying down, trying to nap. I've got the monitor on down here so I can listen for the inevitable cry. I'm hoping and praying he'll sleep for a few hours, to get some rest in, and to get some energy back.
IF he is still sleeping in half an hour when I put Lela down for her nap, I may just crawl in next to her.
Yes, boring post. I"m praising God that this hasn't been anything more serious.

Memories.......
no wonder Barbra Streisand loved this song. As I get older, those memories seem to take a fast train south. I wanted to sign in yesterday and blog, but of course, couldn't remember my sign in OR my password. **sigh** Today I tried my Other e-mail and it worked. Yay me. Boo my memory.
Worked hard today and feel I could use a little nap, but no such luck there. I made the mistake of buying some apples to make a pie, and Beth has been bugging me non-stop to make it. Since the kitchen looks fabulous - 3 hour cleaning this morning of cupboards AND floor, AND the fact that I am pooped, I decided to sit and let the kitchen look wonderful for another half hour before I go and ruin it. LOL!
Kids are on fall break here. Lela has been driving me to distraction all week, since she hasn't been able to go to preschool. I hate days like yesterday with her. She knew all the buttons to push, and refused to stop pushing them. So far, today has been a much better day. She and Beth put up the Halloween decorations and then she played with Matt. I showed her how to create a fort by putting a chair next to the keyboard and covering both with a blanket. They played until lunchtime with very few spats. Miracles DO happen!!
Tomorrow I'm going to work on getting MY room and bathroom clean, then the whole upstairs will be clean! The last time I cleaned like this, Lela asked me if Grandma and Grandad were coming for a visit. LOL! Guess I should clean more often......

In the beginning......
In the beginning...... it's always weird to write a first entry in a blog. I've been blogging now for several years and have recently been looking for a new home. My first home was many years ago, while I was working full-time for a bank. I had LOTS of free time in my afternoons to blog, and read other blogs. During this time, I met my second husband, Bill, and got married. I moved homes during this time, because my original home was having some hosting problems (I write that like I understand what I'm talking about). My new home was fine, many of my "friends" moved with me to my new home. During this time, I became pregnant with my third child, Bill's first, and blogged my happiness. I also created a new blog at a pregnancy site.
Then, Lela was born. I began a new life as a stay-at-home mom. And had very little time to blog. When Lela turned 1, I became pregnant again, accidentally. Not bad for a 41 year-old. Then miscarried. After much discussion, Bill and I decided to go for another child. After 3 more miscarriages, I went to a fertility doctor. During the clomid challenge, I became pregnant again. Started bleeding pretty badly at 5 weeks pregnant. Had several ultrasounds where they could find no sign of a baby at all. Prayed hard. Then God told me that it would all be okay. Seriously. Two ultrasounds later, they found a baby.....with a heartbeat! That's Matt. He's now a year old.
I'd ignored my blogging during this time - only checking in a few times a year. Earlier this year, I decided to give it another try. I blogged semi-regularly, until summer, when all the kids are home all day long and inevitably on the computer. During this time, the blog-site had us change passwords. I don't remember mine. So I can't get into it.
Truthfully, I considered staying at that site, and creating a new blog, but for some reason, it didn't feel right to me. Since I've been reading some of the blogs at this site for awhile, I decided to give it a go here.
The cast of characters:
me....Polly. 45 years old. Stay-at-home mom. Works one evening per week at a children's theatre.
Bill...the husband. Works in banking. Good dad, good man.
Cathy....the oldest daughter. Freshman in college. Finding her place. Growing away from me.
Beth....12 year-old in 7th grade. New hi-tech, old fashioned school. Very sweet.
Lela....4 years old. VERY opinionated, stubborn, willful. Exhausting. But she's loads of fun too.
Matt....1 year old. Only son. Very sweet and good natured.
As I watch my children grow and develop into who they are going to be, I knew I would never remember all the details, so blogging will help me (and my middle-aged brain) remember what it was like.
